Mother and Baby Well (etc. etc.)

Spencer Joseph
Born December 18th 9:40 am
9 lb. (4100g) 23.5 inches (60cm)

Thoughts and Observations
  • I was not remotely surprised to see how muscular his skinny legs are.
  • Some babies are apparently born without eyebrows.
  • Always after spending so much time looking at my own babies in the hospital I am shocked at how cute other people's infants are when I look at theirs. Our babies just aren't that cute (and are often quite the contrary: proof below). But they are OURS. (and plus they grow out of it).
  • Spencer looks so much like all our other babies. I have not yet taken a picture that captures it, but they always look like wise old men. There is something in their eyes (and their bald and wrinkliness).
  • The above fact is rather fitting, since Spencer is named after two wise old men (as I knew them): Spencer W. Kimball and my Grandpa (Spencer's great-grandpa) Joe.
  • Spencer is sweet as can be.
  • I am extremely grateful about so many things over the past few days.
  • Greg and I thought bringing this baby home was the perfect gift for us to give each other on our anniversary today (12 years!).
  • Baby and I really ARE both doing very well.
  • For those with inquiring minds more details about the birth in an upcoming post.

I'm so glad you're doing well after delivering a 9-pound baby with no epidural. I would really like to meet you one day, just because of that fact alone :)

Oh my goodness, congratulations!! My mom gave birth to my little brother the day after Christmas and she took him home in a big, red stocking. :) Enjoy your beautiful, little christmas bundle of joy!

Congratulations! He is adorable, no matter what you think. :) I love his name.

And, none of my kids had eyebrows for their first few months, which is odd as my husband and I have more than enough to go around. :)

Merry Christmas! (And Happy Anniversary!)

Congratulations! I think newborns are only cute because they are newborns and tiny... not because they are actually cute. And even my 5 and 7 year old don't have eyebrows (unless you look REALLY closely). Glad you are both doing well.

Yay!! I was talking about you just last night (the Disney what a life thing about your secret life as a circus acrobat was on) and I wondered if you had had the baby. And look, you DID!!!

Congratulations. I think he looks just like most newborns and while maybe not technically the cutest things ever they make up for it in sweetness and baby smell. (I do miss that smell, maybe... NO NO NO!!)

Congratulations!! And he really IS a beautiful baby. Even without eyebrows!

What are you talking about? He's ADORABLE!!! Even without the eyebrows.

I really hope they have epidurals in Poland...a 9 pounder needs one.

Who says you don't have cute babies? He looks kinda like some of mine. Eyebrows are over-rated anyway.

This kid is NOT bald! And he IS cute! Sweet is even better. My youngest was born sweet and eight years later, he is still the sweetest person I have ever met. What a wonderful gift. Love you!
