'Tis a Gift

Head cold. Not a gift. But here are some things I've been thinking of lately.

One of my favorite things in the world is taking a baby out of his crib. Why are babies so sweet after they sleep? They're so warm and cuddly and happy. There is something about not having held the baby all night, or for the hours during their nap that makes it feel like someone is giving me a gift when finally get to I pick that little guy up. Heaven.

I always floss before bed and I'm ALWAYS very tired and I NEVER feel like doing it. Last night I went to floss my teeth and realized I'd already flossed earlier in the day so I didn't really have to floss again. It felt like someone was handing me a little package. I was very happy. I doubt if I would be any happier if someone knocked on the door and handed me $50. (I thought long and hard about an amount. More than 50 and I would have been happier than about not having to floss, but less than that, for sure not.)

Okay, I just read over the parenthesis in that last paragraph and am in love with the sense of it all. Not to mention the relevance. It is just so important (the whole flossing thing!) and I'm pleased to now publish it on my blog.

I have a head cold.

I'm so sorry about the cold. I hate those. =(

I floss every night too. Even if I'm half asleep while doing it.

People who floss every night should be blessed with never getting head colds. It should be your reward for being such a good teeth steward.

I love your stream of subconciousness. Makes perfect sense to me, and I don't have a head cold anymore!

And as my dentist would say, "Only floss the teeth you want to keep."

My stream of conscience is very parenthetical too. :) Get better soon.

I'm so with you! I've started a goal not to eat anything after dinner, which means I can brush and floss and wash my face at 7pm if I want. Then when 9:30 rolls around, I can just hop right into bed. Definitely worth $50.

braces mean no flossing.

I haven't done so in 2 years.
(I feel gross having typed so...)

but. that must be a lot of money coming to my doorstep...

Hope you're feeling better from the cold ASAP!

And I love those little victories! =D

I agree, there is almost nothing better in the world than getting a baby up from a nap. In fact, my husband and I always fought for the chance to do it. Wow, do I ever miss that!

Hope you're feeling better soon. Head colds can definitely make it difficult to floss.

Love babies. Love the wake up cuddle. Don't love flossing. Am very very bad at it. But I will forgive you for making me feel guilty about that, since your head cold made you do it. :)

Warm snuggly babies....sigh.

And I have a water pick which I think qualifies for flossing...which I hate too. I mean I hate flossing, not the water pick. The water pick is pretty cool, if not a bit messy (gotta remember to keep that little sprayer thing in the mouth at all times!)
