Have Your Cake and Eat It Tuesday

Man, I haven't done one of these posts in a loooong time (six months?!).  And this one isn't even a real one, as I'm not sharing a recipe.  And a more appropriate title would be Have Your Cake and Eat It The Tuesday After You Get Back From America In June.  Here's why:

I had a dream last night.  I was in America for a very short visit.  I was on my last day or two and I hadn't bought any Reese's Peanut Butter Chips.

Also, I was in Poland and had just found out that they started selling Reese's peanut butter chips in a certain store here.   Greg was the manager/owner of one of them and he "helped" me while I was looking for the chips.  I searched EVERYWHERE, as I knew they'd be on some random shelf in a small pile between two products that weren't remotely related to baking.  After a desperate search (after all, I was leaving America very soon to go back to Poland -- never mind that I was already in Poland in this part of the dream) I realized that I'd have to go to a different store in the same chain.

That one was in America.  It was about Costco sized and I did a shelf by shelf search and came up with nothing.  I went to the bakery and talked to some people working there about where I could find them.  Sitting at a table there, talking to another lady, was Steve S. from jr. high/high school who used to tease me and who I was a little afraid of, until he got a some self esteem, joined the football team and started being nice to me.  He didn't care too much about my peanut butter chips, but the lady he was talking with helped me (I have no idea why on Earth he was in this dream.  I haven't thought of him in decades, almost).

I don't really know what happened after that.  I don't think I ever found the chips.  It doesn't really matter though.  I know this all sounds very pointless, but it's not.  Not for me at least.  The moral of the story is, buy LOTS of peanut butter chips when you're in America in June.

I love how a bag of those can last such a looong time.  I use them as an accent in chocolate chip cookies or brownies.  It only takes a very little bit to transform a recipe.  Good thing, too, because when I have them in the house I want to add them to everything I bake.  Mmmmm.

I really hate that there's a weight limit on luggage.

LOL. Yes, this is a good moral. The kids and I are crazy for anything peanut butter flavored, but my husband, not so much. Consequently, I don't use pb that much in baking, etc. But now I am craving some. mmmmm

And to think I've never used them in baking. Methinks I've been missing out.

No peanut butter chips to be found! That is a nightmare. That is great that you will be coming to the US in June! That is very soon.

I had a dream last night that I was one of the three finalists on American Idol and totally forgot to learn a song.
And as a die-hard Reece's fan myself, God played a cruel trick on me and gave me a child with severe peanut allergy. Right now I'm debating whether to give him or that bag of Reece's chips priority in my household. ... okay, he can stay, but I'm jealous nonetheless.

Wow, Pharaoh must really have it in for you! What do you suppose this REALLY means?

I can't say I'm really jealous about the chips -- I mean, they're okay, but I don't live or die for them as you apparently do. What I'm jealous about is how vividly you can remember every detail of the dream! I've had some really great ones lately -- ones that you don't want to wake up from -- but when I do wake up, I can't remember a single thing! What does that mean??!!

Isn't it the strangest thing when someone you haven't thought of in a million years shows up in your dream? I always wonder what that means.

I never buy these, because I can't stay out of them. I have no self-control when it comes to stuff like this!

I don't think I've ever bought these. I guess I'm not a huge peanut butter freak, but then again, I live in the land of peanut butter aplenty.

Ok, I'll buy some today and eat them.
You know, in the name of friendship.

I just bought these last week for $3. That seemed so expensive! Is that a normal prce?

I wish it weren't so expensive to mail stuff to Poland. No fair.

I also love these chips. And I also remember having a dream recently where I was looking and looking for some product, which I can't remember what it was now, but which I did remember in detail when I woke up. My real life version of this is me trying to find blue pants for the kids at the thrift stores. There are none, but I keep looking in all the possible places the workers might have hidden them (TnT have outgrown their pants and I don't want to spend a ton for pants at the very end of the season. Target didn't even have any available in boys or girls!)

I didn't even know those existed... probably because I don't put peanut butter in stuff unless I don't want Piper to eat it... those look yummy though!

Hmm, my roommate in college used to make chocolate cookies with these sprinkled in and this post reminded me of a happy time and of her. Thanks!

Maybe I'll make some today.

It must be frustrating to try to bake in Poland! I haven't even tried these chips because, well, I'm a spoiled American and haven't gotten around to it because there are so many other chips to choose from. I really need to appreciate America and our chips selection more, and I plan to!

Ooh, I have a chocolate chocolate chip cookie recipe that I put these peanut butter chips in that is TO DIE FOR! I even brought some chocolate jello pudding with me to France so my friend Staci could make the cookies because she loves them so much and can't get pudding in France.

I can't wait until you can get to America to get your chips!

I actually think I kind of feel your pain on this. I miss things that I can only get in Louisiana and since we don't get back there often, it's sometimes lonnnng times between treats. Or worse, you can find something "similar" in California but it really doesn't compare and it makes me miss the original even more.

I've never used these, but I think that I may need to now.
Max would love them because he loves everything peanut butter.

You know what they need to bring to Poland? DR. Pepper. I had one in Germany,IT COST ME 22 ZLOTY! That was for a small glass of it! Sometimes I really detest the Euro!

I have the BEST recipe for a dessert (no bake!) using peanut butter chips but I'm not going to drive you crazy with it. If you dream about it tonight, email me and I'll send you the recipe. (It also involved chunky peanut butter, chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. Yeah. I know.)

I just bought a bag of those! I need to remember to appreciate these items as the luxuries they are and not take them for granted.

I can't wait for you to come to the states and stock up!

That reminded me of how much I missed libraries while we were in Puerto Rico. Biblioteca is not library in our sense here in America; it is bookstore. We had to buy every single book we wanted to read. Makes you very selective in your reading habits!
